This training program is designed to enhance performance, prevent injuries, and promote overall well-being. It is tailored to SoCal paddlers paddling in the 2026 winter series. It will have 2 peak races, a peak at HanoHano Ocean Challenge, and a peak at Wild Buffalo Relay. The program focuses on developing technique, endurance, power, and speed.

THIS PLAN IS ALSO AVAILABLE ON TRAINING PEAKS. If you are not familiar with training peaks, it is a training software that will sync with your gps watch and automatically schedule the workouts for you. I highly recommend it.

Structure: Set up to be HR zones, but can be done with RPE.

Progressive Overload

Progressive overload is the principle of gradually increasing training stress so your body keeps adapting and getting stronger. That means a controlled, steady increases in resistance, distance, and intensity, to build endurance and power without hitting a plateau.

A periodized approach creates a structure that controls the progressive overload to peak at a specific time for a specific race. Programs will cycle between intensity and volume over time, to develop different energy systems and maximize race specific performance.
